Intensive English Course



ILc's Intensive English Course is designed to help our students accelerate their learning with maximum time of study through both indoor and outdoor activities. We will help all our students to attain their academic or career objectives in the shortest possible time, whether they are college students or belong to work class .Our Intensive English course consist of 40 lesson per-week and it can be of great help for college students or working class people that want to enhance their English language level for academics success or communication purposes.

Our Intensive English Course will give a balanced approach to our students to develop their skills in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. We will help students to attain necessary competence and ability to undertake higher education at college or university. ILC's Intensive English Course focus on effective communication in English. Instructor use modern texts, audio/CD, video/DVD, local media and internet to improve students reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Students will also be given regular homework and do excursions to local attractions and cultural events as part of your studies.

All the grammar and vocabulary students study is based on Cambridge syllabus follow on the European Framework 'can do' tasks .On registration day, a placement test will be conducted to determine student English Level in order to determine student starting level. Class schedules are based on a student's English Level and course selection; it may be in the morning, afternoon or evening classes. We will conduct test at the end of every 4 weeks to check our student's progress.

0ur Intensive English Course comprises of four stages which are Beginner, Elementary, and Intermediate and Advance .The length of the English Certificate course is flexible; it takes about 2 to 3 months to complete each stage. After completing stage 4, students can sit for IELTS, TOELF, and CAMBRIDGE EXAMS without any fear of failure.

Beginner
This level is for People who have learned very little or no English in the past. A basic course that improves various English skills. Lessons focus on pronunciation of words and sounds, listening, practicing casual English, reading and combining all of these skills together. We learn through introducing ourselves to friends and family, discussing everyday activities, food, restaurants, shopping, places and many more.

By the end of this stage, students should be able to:        

· Understand sentences and phrases dealing with topics such as: personal and family information, shopping,
   geography, etc.
· Read short and simple sentences; find information in everyday texts, such as: advertising, menus, etc.
· Have short conversations.
· Communicate through simple everyday tasks.
· Describe your personal background, living conditions and other information about your surroundings.
· Write short and simple notes, messages and personal letters.

Elementary
Student will proceed to Elementary stage after completion of Beginner stage. At this stage student will cover grammatical areas such as main verb tenses, modals, quantifiers and comparison structures.

By the end of this stage, students should be able to:

· Student should o be able understand main points of clear speech on familiar matters.
· Engage in conversation, express personal opinions and exchange information on familiar subjects of
   personal interest or related to everyday life.
· will be able to describe experiences and events and give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
· Exposing learners to authentic models to develop writing for real life purposes.

Intermediate 
At this stage students will have chance to continue to improve on their vocabulary, writing skills and enhance their knowledge of grammatical structures. Students will learn three major component of English; Structure/Speaking, Conversation and Reading/Writing. Students will be exposed to various electronica media to help them get a real life feel of the language they are learning.

By the end of this stage, students should be able to:

· Using authentic and graded texts to develop real life reading and listening skills.
· Understand most questions and statements at normal speaking speeds. They will be able to sustain a
   conversation with anyone as long as the topics are    familiar with them
· Improving essential grammar structures for competent and accurate communication.
· Providing opportunities for personalization and to use real language naturally through confidence-building and speaking activities.

Advance
At the advance stage, students will use interactive workshops and expose more to electronic gadgets however they will learn structure Speaking, Conversation , Reading , structure Writing , Literature ,idioms in more advance manner .

By the end of this stage, students should be able to:

· Have enough English language knowledge to score high marks in any international English exams such as
   IELTS and TOELF which will enable them to proceed to any University in Malaysia , UK, Australia,
   New Zealand, Canada, United States and other countries where English is the medium of instruction.
· Achieved a sufficient level of English to enable them to prepare for the University of Cambridge ESOL
   examination - Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
· Student who completes this level will be able to clearly communicate any idea in the English language.
   Students will also be able to understand conversations and lectures with maximum understand. The student
   will at this stage be ready for university level studies in any field.
· Models and guided practice for clear and correct pronunciation.
· Integrating communicative speaking activities to develop confidence and fluency in both formal and
   informal situations.

Class Size
· Maximum of 20 pupils in a class
· Limited numbers of pupils are available
· One to one is available on demand

Course Structure
· Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate and Advance which comprises of 12 levels .
· Each stage is 3 months while each level is 3 weeks.
· 6 hours of teaching in a day comprises of 2 different classes.
· 3 times in a week - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
· 18 hours in a week, 72 hours in a month and total 216 hours to complete one stage

Part time Classes

Our part time classes are for people who are engage in full time working and want to improve on the language skills or students who just want to stay with us only one day in a week in evening classes or weekend classes.

These classes are constructed to help students to enhance their four basic skills of language - Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Grammar construction. The number of students will be around 8 to 12; students are not expected to buy any book, as we will provide all the study materials needed for study purposes without extra costs. All our teachers are all graduate and professionals with many years of teaching experience. Our part time classes syllabus also follow Cambridge syllabus just like our full time classes which mapped according to Common European framework of References.

· One on one class is available on demand

Entry Requirements
Students have to sit for a placement test to determine their level.

Assessment and Exam Dates
All our students will be assessed internally on completion of their study with us and will be awarded certificate of course completion showing the level the students have achieved.

Cambridge ESOL examinations for KET (Key English Test) and PET (Preliminary English Test) may be taken at Cambridge ESOL local examination Centre) Students that we prepare for Cambridge ESOL FCE (First Certificate in English) and higher level exams are held at external examination Centre's.
